I got trapped into buying these shoes when someone stole my Keens while on a sea kayak trip. I loved them at first, despite the price. When they work, they work well for kayaking. Easy on/off, stable footwear when tightened. But the wet/dry cycle renders them unbelievably smelly. You have no idea. And the metal moving parts (including the cable) are a definite concern around salt water. Predictably, the cable corroded and broke after a few months. I live in the Caribbean, now what do I do?!
